History

Since 2017: Where natural luxury feels at home in Switzerland
Founded in April 2017, The Living Circle grew from a simple, powerful idea: To connect exceptional places, people, and values. Hotels, restaurants, and farms united by one belief – Luxury fed by nature.
Its roots lie in the Maggia Delta in Ascona, where Castello del Sole has long brought together hospitality and agriculture. Across 140 hectares of rice fields, vineyards, orchards, and farmland along Lake Maggiore, this philosophy comes to life. What began here has become a collection of places that honor history and celebrate nature.

Our houses
Widder Hotel: Nine historic townhouses, some dating back to the 13th century – now united as an award‑winning boutique hotel in the heart of Zurich’s old town. Heritage meets design. History meets ease.
Storchen Zurich: A Zurich landmark since 1357 – set on the Limmat, in the pulse of the city. A house that lives and breathes its story. Truly Zurich.
Alex Lake Zurich: Set directly on the Lake Zurich shoreline – modern, tranquil, with private access to the water. Where urban energy and lakeside calm flow together effortlessly.
Castello del Sole: Built in 1532, surrounded by space, sun, and nature. A sanctuary between gardens and lake, with soul, history, and heart.
Château de Raymontpierre: An elegant country estate from 1595 – majestic yet grounded. Rooted in tradition, connected to one of Switzerland’s most forward‑thinking organic farms.
Agriculture
In addition to the Terreni & Cantina alla Maggia estate, the Schlattgut farm in Herrliberg and another farm in the Jura belong to The Living Circle. Many of the ingredients served in our restaurants come directly from these farms – a reflection of a new kind of luxury: responsible, regional, and authentic.
