Pinte Guesthouse

This is where they all stayed: pioneers and mountain guides, adventurers and explorers. Since 1843.

Arrive where history was made

In the heart of Grindelwald stands the Bellevue Pinte – the oldest hotel in the village. Since 1843, this traditional house has welcomed guests from all over the world and is now part of Bergwelt Grindelwald, the Alpine Design Resort in the centre of the village. The eight lovingly renovated boutique double rooms combine the historic character of the Pinte with contemporary comfort. Here, the hospitality of a traditional house meets the unique atmosphere of Grindelwald – for guests who wish to experience the village authentically and with a sense of history.

A house with character and soul

The Pinte is not a hotel that stages history – it lives it. Warm wooden floors, low ceilings, winding corridors and rooms shaped over the centuries. Each room has its own layout and its own story. The dates on the façade tell part of its history; inside, it can be felt. The legendary stone cat outside the entrance – Ye Olde Spotted Cat – is as much a part of the Pinte as the woods are of Grindelwald. Touching it is said to bring good luck.

Eight rooms, eight stories

Each of the eight boutique double rooms is unique – individually designed, with its own layout and character. Carefully selected materials, historic details and contemporary comfort come together in rooms that feel welcoming from the very first moment. Private bathrooms, complimentary Wi-Fi and the option to add a rich breakfast buffet and exclusive access to the Fire & Ice SPA at Bergwelt Grindelwald complete the stay.

Village center

The Pinte is located on Dorfstrasse in the heart of Grindelwald, right next to Bergwelt Grindelwald. From here, the mountain railways, hiking trails and everything that makes the village special are all within easy walking distance.

A legend in Grindelwald

The Pinte takes its name from its characterful innkeeper, Fritz Bohren. In 1888, «Pintenfritz» began running the inn – with a twinkle in his eye, a cigar at the corner of his mouth and a flat cap on his head. For travellers soaked by the rain, there was grog, dry clothing and a witty remark. The house was founded in 1843, when Grindelwald was just beginning to attract travellers from all over the world. Since then, the Pinte has remained a firm part of village life – a place where regulars and adventurers meet, enjoy good food and raise a glass to life. Today, the Bellevue Pinte is part of Bergwelt Grindelwald. It combines its enduring character with the world of a modern Alpine Design Resort – without ever losing its soul. A place where regulars and adventurers have always met at the same table.
