Castello Del Sole

Our Story

A rich and varied past

Authenticity defines our essence and enduring values shape our identity: Castello del Sole is more than just a home; it is a living story that we continue to weave together with you. Let us begin this journey from the very beginning: Francesco Orelli built the Castello del Sole in 1532, originally as a sanctuary for followers of the new Protestant doctrine. Documented for the first time in 1756 as an architectural "jewel", around 1900 it was a modest six-room osteria. In the decades that followed, it was transformed into an exclusive hotel, preserving its distinctive features while embracing contemporary luxury.

Simon V. Und Gabriela Jenny

"Our history is an integral part of our culture, it documents the past and influences the future. It is therefore fascinating and a great privilege to manage the only resort in Switzerland with its own winery, Cantina alla Maggia, and to lead it together into a successful future. ."
